Integrated Geospatial and Geophysical Approaches for Mapping Groundwater Potential in the Semi-Arid Bukombe District, Tanzania

The rapid growth of civil societies coupled with population influx due to the artisanal mining industry in Bukombe district (BD) has triggered a high demand for water resources. daily consumption resources surpasses supply from available surface sources. Thus, situation raised groundwater as an alternative. Despite importance resources, no current studies have spatially assessed potential locate optimal points borehole development. This study intended investigate and map areas (GWPAs) semi-arid BD using remote sensing (RS), geographic information system (GIS), analytic hierarchy process (AHP) help local communities access clean safe water. Rainfall, geology, slope, drainage density, land use/land cover lineament density were prepared delineate GWPAs. was categorized into poor (0.21%), moderate good (51.39%), (45.70%) very (2.70%).
